Humphrey de Bohun was born in 1342, the son of William de Bohun, First Earl of Northampton, and Elizabeth Badlesmere. He was a descendant of the powerful Bohun family, which had been prominent in English politics for centuries. Humphrey's father was a close advisor to King Edward III, and Humphrey himself was raised in the royal court. He received a well-rounded education, which included training in the arts of war and diplomacy.

In 1366, Humphrey de Bohun inherited the earldom of Hereford from his uncle. He was now one of the most powerful barons in England, and he quickly became involved in the political machinations of the court. Humphrey was a supporter of King Edward III, and he fought against the French in the Hundred Years' War. He also served as a diplomat, and he helped to negotiate the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360.

In 1377, King Edward III died, and his grandson, Richard II, became king. Humphrey de Bohun was one of the regents appointed to advise the young king. Humphrey was a wise and capable advisor, and he helped to guide England through a difficult period of political unrest. However, Humphrey was also a firm believer in the rights of the barons, and he often clashed with the king's favorites.

In 1388, Humphrey de Bohun was killed in a battle against the forces of Robert de Vere, Earl of Oxford. Humphrey's death was a major blow to the barons, and it led to a revolt against the king. The revolt was eventually put down, but it weakened the monarchy and contributed to the rise of the House of Lancaster.

Humphrey de Bohun was a complex and fascinating figure. He was a skilled warrior, a powerful baron, and a wise and capable regent. He was also a man of strong principles, and he was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in. Humphrey de Bohun's life was full of adventure, intrigue, and political maneuvering, and he played a significant role in the history of England during the reign of King Richard II.
